Tesla unveiled the much-hyped electric pickup truck on Thursday night. It did not go off without a hitch, however. The supposedly unbreakable window glass shattered twice when it got hit with a large metal ball. Elon Musk, along with the design chief for Tesla, Franz von Holzhausen, were on stage when the incident happened. Investors apparently didn’t like the stunts or the truck’s futuristic design, which is aimed at getting a foothold in the most profitable part of the U.S. auto market. Tesla shares fell almost 6% in midday trading Friday.

In lighter, Chicago-related news, the city’s holiday celebrations will kickoff this evening as the city lights its Christmas tree in Millennium Park. This will mark the 106th annual tree lighting ceremony for the city. This year’s tree comes from the Nelson family in Elgin. Their 55-foot blues spruce is adorned with 54,825 lights, which have been donated by IBEW Local 134 and Palos Electric.

Chicago to light Christmas tree in Millennium Park Friday

Chicago’s holiday celebration gets official Friday night as the city lights its Christmas tree in Millennium Park.
